US SUPREME COURT RULED AGAINST PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTIONS
by juni inand i say thank god that this abhorrent practice is not legal any longer.. i don't feel rowe vs. wade (the right of a women to an abortion) should be banned, but definitely partial birth abortions should be.. am i for willy nilly abortion?
but if there were ever a situation say a woman's health was in jeapordy i feel she should have the right to a legal ending of her pregnancy.. for those that choose abortion as a means of birth control or some other lame reason, i believe that is wrong.. how do you feel?.

First, I don't want to condemn anyone on this site that may have had an abortion. I know that this is a very sensitive subject and I don't want to hurt anyone that has a different take on it but I do think we need to be informed so we make the right decisions, not just for ourselves, but for those who can't speak for themselves. I, for one, am thankful that partial birth abortions are banned. The procedure is barbaric, and in my mind it is murder. I’m not talking as a Christian; I’m talking as a woman, as a mother, as a human being. Are we not a civilized society? Why is there such an assault on the young, who can’t defend themselves? (Abortion, embroyonic stem cell research, sex trade, pedophelia) Do they not have a choice? My understanding is that most of these abortions are not performed because of risk to the mother. Does a woman ever really get over it? Suppose a woman chooses the partial birth abortion to rid her unborn child. Before the procedure she goes into labour and gives birth. What does she do then? What is the difference between the head exposed or the head still inside the mother? It is a human being.
I wonder if the baby is sedated during this prodecure. I have heard horror stories that the child squirms and does feel intense pain. This site seems to verify that the baby does feel the pain. Now maybe the baby feels severe pain if they don't get a sedative or pain killer but they don't seem to state that. I can't imagine a doctor not giving pain killers to the unborn.
http://abortiontv.com/Methods/PartiaBirthAbortionPerspective.htm
http://www.abortionhome.com/partialbirthabortion/ Berkeley, CA (LifeNews.com) -- A new report from researchers at the University of California says unborn children do not likely feel the pain of abortions during the earlier parts of a woman's pregnancy. The findings are coming under fire from doctors who specialize in fetal development and they say it's off the mark. ... Dr. Anand said other medical studies conclude that unborn babies are "very likely" to be "extremely sensitive to pain during the gestation of 20 to 30 weeks." "This is based on multiple lines of evidence," Dr. Anand said. "Not just the lack of descending inhibitory fibers, but also the number of receptors in the skin, the level of expression of various chemicals, neurotransmitters, receptors, and things like that." Anand explained that later-term abortion procedures, such as a partial-birth abortion "would be likely to cause severe pain."
I know Embroyonic Stem Cell research is a separate subject, but is it really. It again is assaulting the unborn. Is it not true that adult stem cells are being used sucessfully.

Hi Terry: Even though I went to a Christian Reformed Church for about 13 years I don't know too much about John Calvin. After my "incident" I had a difficult time reading up on anything relating to John Calvin and Election, probably much like how some x-Witnesses feel about reading anything relating to the Org. I know that he was French, but the Dutch seemed to embrace his views. CRC are mostly of Dutch descent, but it is gradually changing. Here's a website that may help you. I really don't know anything about the Puritans.

So much great music has been mentioned. I would love to find some music that I’ve never heard of before. I know there is one young guy from England that’s more jazz oriented. He has an Italian name but can’t remember. Have never heard him but am curious. Coming home from work I was listening to Andrea Bocelli. It’s contemporary Italian (if I want to listen to Operatic Arias I would rather listen to Pavarotti) and I just love it. Wish I knew how to play Spanish Guitar. I do listen to Marc Antoine-El Matador & Urban Gypsy I especially like. Like Carlos Santana too.
My son’s (25) taste in music is very different from mine but I do like Dream Theatre and we both agree on Pink Floyd. Surprisingly my daughter’s (almost 21) is a lot like mine now. She’s even starting to like some light Classical.
Anony Mouse: I have Dark Side of the Moon and the Wall. I personally prefer and love Dark Side of the Moon. I highly recommend it. You can go to this site. http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/dsotm/content/setup.html
prophecor: Earth Wind & Fire loved them. Marvin Gaye is probably my favourite, but the Drifters too and the Temptations....
Notaness: We saw Jars of Clay a while back. Need to Breathe and Leigh Nash, former Sixpence singer, also performed. A really good concert.
I really related to the song The Voice by the Moody Blues

Do any of the older members remember this:
{Epilogue, spoken} Breathe deep in the gathering gloom Watch lights fade from every room Bedsitter people look back and lament Another day's useless energy's spent Impassioned lovers wrestle as one Lonely man cries for love and has none New mother picks up and suckles her son Senior citizens wish they were young Cold-hearted orb that rules the night Removes the colors from our sight Red is gray and yellow white And we decide which is right. And which is an illusion?

I dont understand why you would accept the word of some bloke who called himself pastor anyway.
Hi crumpet: I didn't accept the word of this pastor, that's why I didn't go back to his classes and why I didn't go back to this church. I was initially in shock and yes, for a few days I was depressed but I came out of it. I think we all can relate to feelings of uncertainity; that's the only way we grow. If we know all the answers we wouldn't need to learn anything more. When I read Romans 11 it confirmed it to me that this church was wrong on this issue.
It's obvious that we come from totally different views. We have that choice; to believe in God or not to believe in God. I choose to believe. For me not believing is a much bigger leap of faith than believing. I'm sure it's been said time and again but when I look around me, nature, music, my children, our thoughts, our feelings, this all come from nothing? I don't believe that.

edited to add: quote: "He has chosen some for a purpose, but not chosen some for eternal life with Him and others for eternal damnation or annihilation. That's what I believe." I realize I may be reading you wrong on this.
SixofNine: Not sure if I worded it clearly. What I meant to say was that I do believe that God chooses people for different reasons, Abraham, Paul, etc to fulfill his purpose but that He doesn't chose or not chose people regarding eternal life. I believe that we chose to believe or not to believe in God. Hope that's a bit clearer.
Terry: Thanks for the response. I have to admit, when I first got here I was very intimidated by you and someone mentioned that if one got to know you that you're actually a very nice person. I thank you for your post; not only because I got to know you and a few others a little bit better but it also helped me indirectly to find the answer (for me) about the subject of Election. After the incident of a few days ago it was really nice to hear some positive, and I think kinder, responses. Life is a journey of discovery. I'm not a great intellect but I am a very curious person.
